To establish India’s first Electronic Specialty Gas Hub supporting semiconductor fabs and OSAT units

INOX Air Products Announces ₹500 Crore Investment in Dholera

In a strategic move to bolster India’s rapidly emerging semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, INOX Air Products (INOXAP) — the country’s leading producer of industrial and electronic gases — has announced plans to invest ₹500 crore in expanding its gas purification, logistics, and specialty gas supply infrastructure.

The company has already acquired a significant land parcel in Dholera, Gujarat, where it will develop an Electronic Specialty Gas Hub, designed to support semiconductor fabs and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) units across India.

Currently in an advanced stage of planning, the upcoming Hub will produce and supply Ultra High Purity (UHP) bulk and specialty gases — including Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Hydrogen — all of which are critical to advanced semiconductor fabrication processes.

Positioned as both a production and fulfillment centre, the facility will ensure reliable, contamination-free delivery of gases to semiconductor and electronics manufacturers across the country.

Strengthening India’s Semiconductor Supply Chain

This ₹500 crore investment underlines INOXAP’s commitment to build a self-reliant, high-tech gas supply ecosystem aligned with the Government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The planned expansion will focus on:

  • Increasing gas purification capacities for UHP applications

  • Establishing import-linked supply chains for critical specialty gases

  • Deploying advanced logistics and packaging solutions tailored for the semiconductor industry

Siddharth Jain, Managing Director – INOX Air Products, said:

“INOXAP is proud to invest in Dholera, reinforcing our commitment to building a future-ready, self-reliant supply chain for India’s semiconductor ambitions. With the Hub, we are building the foundation for a self-reliant supply chain that can power the ambitions of global chipmakers and electronic manufacturers choosing India for setting up fabs. With a pan-India footprint and decades of operational excellence, we are deploying the full breadth of our engineering and execution capabilities for creating a world-class infrastructure. This initiative is deeply aligned with the vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, enabling India to compete at a global scale.”

Serving India’s First Semiconductor Facility

INOXAP is already supplying ultra-high purity gases and contamination-free delivery systems to India’s first semiconductor project in Gujarat, demonstrating its readiness to serve advanced fabs and OSAT units.

The company operates six large Air Separation Units (ASUs) in Gujarat, producing Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen, and Liquid Argon, catering to diverse industrial sectors including semiconductors, solar cells, and electronics manufacturing.

With access to global best practices through its long-standing partnership with Air Products & Chemicals Inc., USA, INOXAP is uniquely positioned to deliver reliability, safety, and quality at par with global semiconductor standards.

Critical Role of Specialty Gases in Semiconductor Manufacturing

Specialty and bulk gases are essential to semiconductor fabrication — used in etching, deposition, doping, and chamber cleaning processes. Their ultra-high purity directly impacts wafer integrity, device performance, and fabrication yield, making reliable gas supply a strategic pillar for India’s semiconductor mission.
